Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the predominant greenhouse gas (GHG) and is, unfortunately, a by-product of the combustion of fuel. Of course, we use fuel as energy for different applications. These include residential and commercial heating and as fuel for our on-road and off-road engines and vehicles.
Propane vs Natural Gas: Which One Is NOT a Greenhouse Gas?
Natural gas indeed creates less CO2 during combustion than propane. However, carbon dioxide isn’t the only greenhouse gas. The primary component of natural gas is methane and methane has a more potent greenhouse effect than CO2.
What About the Other Air Pollutants?
The greenhouse effect isn’t the only pressing concern about fuel emissions. There are other problems such as acid rain from sulfur and ground-level ozone. Air pollutants can also cause various health problems such as carbon monoxide poisoning, asthma, and even cancer.
